Ph.D. Scholarship Program "Uncertainty"

In response to the growing global uncertainty impacting decision-making and future planning, the ZEIT STIFTUNG BUCERIUS has announced its Ph.D. scholarship program "Uncertainty." This program invites research proposals from the Humanities, Social Sciences, Economics, and Law to explore this pressing and complex issue.

The initiative seeks to address the various factors contributing to this uncertainty, including climate change, geopolitical conflicts such as the Russian war against Ukraine, political polarization, inflation, societal transformations, technological innovations, and global health crises. These factors collectively erode our perceived certainties and necessitate a deeper understanding and new perspectives.

Researchers are encouraged to explore the multiple dimensions of uncertainty, distinguishing it from related concepts like risk, ignorance, and complexity. This scholarship program seeks to inspire groundbreaking research that will contribute to a better grasp of uncertainty in contemporary times.
